Q: What were the top 3 mistakes you made starting out with your business, and if you could start over what would you do differently?

1 Complexity

2 Right Product Mix

3 Wrong Economic Model

The company I envisioned and started was different than the one that launched three years ago, and much different from the one that found success a year later DaCast is a video streaming company and we spent two years before launch developing a peer to peer approach that had to change due to complexity; ease of use is always key and easy to lose sight of in the tech world, especially in a B2B market where simplicity for your client’s end users is key.  Also, prepare to tweak your economic model to find success.

We launched with a “Pay As You Go” model with a minimum, one time investment of $5, and the clients we attracted were around that size. When we introduced monthly plans with reoccurring charges the new model promoted them to use our service more and dramatically improved our client base from increased word of mouth.
