Don’t Just Roll with the Punches, “Bob and Weave” Your Way to the Top

bob and weave

I am sure you’ve heard the term “Roll with the punches

In most cases, it simply means going with the flow. While I am sure that works in some situations, I don’t believe it’s the right attitude for us entrepreneurs in TRAINING to follow. Because in my experience, successful people are fighters, they tend to be very bold and different — or in other words, they don’t just go with the flow.

So instead of “Rolling with the punches” this time, let’s try “Bob and Weaving“.

For those of you who are not familiar with the term (Wikipedia to the rescue)

Definition: Bob and Weave

Make rapid bodily movements up and down and from side to side, for example as an evasive tactic by a boxer

Bob and Weave is basically moving fast to avoid getting hit. It also allows you to position yourself in the right spot to possibly knockout your opponent.

Now I am no boxer, but it’s not hard to see how this concept relates to life and entrepreneurship.

As entrepreneurs, almost nothing we do goes according to plan. We simply have to bounce back, learn from our mistakes and then move on. Life continues to throw punches; it continues to knock us down, but the good news is that nothing is permanent. Even if we get knockdown we can always get back up.

“Success is falling nine times and getting up ten.”

– Jon Bon Jovi

Don’t Just Roll with the Punches!

“Bob and Weave” Your Way to the Top”

In conclusion

Life is hard, entrepreneurship makes it even harder. So if we’re going to make it all work we have to keep moving.

And when you do get hit, believe me, you will (lots of times)

Those with the will to get up and continue to fight are the ones who will succeed.

Since we’re still welcoming this brand NEW YEAR, I’ve decided to run my life and business like a professional boxer – just bob and weaving my way to success.

…so won’t you BOB with me?
