What is the overall message you are trying to share with your readers?

Our message is growing old is just a number. Be active. Get off the couch. Learn new things and life will be great. Age with the attitude that this is the best time of your life. So many people are just waiting and not living.

What were the top three mistakes you made publishing your book what did you learn from it?

As a first-time author, I didn’t understand how complicated the writing process is. While crafting “Growing Old Sucks But it Doesn’t Have to,” we also had to think about marketing the book. Life would get in the way of the actual writing time. The next book (which I’m writing now) is different. I’m setting a time to write and that’s what I’m doing — not letting “life” get in the way.

What must happen for you to consider your book a success? and when do you predict it will happen?

If this book helps one person, we’re successful. Just one person! This book was created to be a roadmap for people to have a great life. We’ve have achieved success based on the reviews and comments we have already gotten.

What advice do you have for new authors who want to write and publish their first book?

Get help from the beginning from someone who has gone through the first time book publishing war. And it is a war. The conflict is in the writers mind, thinking should I do this or shouldn’t I. Writing is a lonely process, so take time to be with others so you don’t go mad. Last make sure you have a marketing plan in place as you write the book.

What is the one thing you wished you knew before publishing your first book?

I wished I had focused on the marketing aspects of book publishing more. Reaching more people and helping them, and making a few bucks, is key to making a book a success.

Can you share some of the marketing techniques that have worked for you when promoting your book?

The number one promotion I believe in is working with a super PR person (like Andrea Pass). Getting interviews that target your demographic is important to get your message out.

What are three books or courses you recommend for new authors?

I’m always looking for courses to help with the marketing of books. Amazon has some good basic videos that offer guidance on publishing. There are many others. Signing up with groups (like the Evolutionary Business Council) have members that offer classes and mentoring on book publishing.

If you only had $100 dollars to write, publish then promote a new book, knowing everything you know now, how would you spend it?

I would spend the money on a great PR person. Public Relations rocks the publishing world. I also advise not doing your own PR. Spend the money. It works!

How can we get in touch with you?
