Please tell us a little bit about your company – what is The Kyte Team all about?
I’m a Real Estate Agent with Coldwell Banker First Ottawa Realty. I serve the greater Ottawa area and support clients buy, sell and invest in real estate.
Tell us a little bit about your background and how you started your company?
I’ve been in real estate for 8 years and just love the business. I chose Coldwell Banker First Ottawa Realty because of the broker’s straight forward and direct approach to real estate, with an international presence, was ideal. Real Estate matches my sense of creativity and drive, to protect and help my clients buy and sell real estate.
I’m born and raised in the Nation’s Capital of Ottawa and is where I reside with my wife Lisa and our daughter Audrina. Prior to that, I worked for a local Hospital and the Federal Government of Canada, in Human Resources.
What are your plans, how do you plan to grow this company?
By working by referral, I’ve been able to grow my business each year and 2020 was a new record-breaking year for the Kyte Team, and my 2021 motto is Focus & Fun. Targeting the luxury market, has been a focus in 2020 and will remain, 2021 as a key priority to expansion.
What was the biggest problem you encountered with your business and how did you overcome it?
I was doing everything from paperwork, to updating websites, etc. All the things that a new business needs to focus on and adapt too at light speed. I required support and hired, Serena, whom has been with me for 5 years as my Client Experience Officer, which in real estate, is essential, to supporting clients and growing my business. This one hire, has been a key component of taking care of my clients and in turn they continue to refer my real estate services to their family and friends.
How do you separate yourself from your competitors?
I focus 100% on my clients. Having a clear process for buying, selling and investing, which is efficient and direct, allows for success. Listening to my clients and answering their questions, no matter how many they have or repeated. It’s an honour to be in this business and grateful for my clients trust and support.
What is one thing that you do daily to grow as an entrepreneur?
Drink lots of water. I know this might so basic, but it assists me with keeping focused, feeling rejuvenated and taking care of my clients, which spans day, afternoon, evenings and weekends.
What are three books or courses you recommend for new entrepreneurs?
There are so many. The top three, that I read and really found gave a great perspective where:
- 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. I found the principles to be simple and direct, which is essential to implementation.
- Tuesday’s with Morrie – One of my personal fav’s ever. Caught my attention and never put the book down until it was finished. Have read is three times!
- Think and Grow Rich – Love the real-life examples to reinforce the books principles.
What is the one thing you wish you knew before starting your business?
That family and close friends would be some of the last to support and use your real estate services. Hard lesson to learn, but one that is a key building block to a sound foundation I’ve built to support my growing business.
What has been your most effective marketing strategy to grow your business?
Providing information that your target audience wants to know or doesn’t know they want, so you keep them informed, on the market and your business. Being honest with questions asked, and letting clients and future clients know of what their experience with you will look like.
If you only had $1000 dollars to start a new business, knowing everything you know now, how would you spend it?
Invest in yourself, and contact Buffini and Company, it was an investment I made for myself that has rewarded me every single day, in my personal and business life.
What’s your best piece of advice for aspiring and new entrepreneurs?
Don’t transform to be somebody else, be true to your roots and values and forge the right path for you and your business.
What is your favorite quote?
It’s one, I have on my phone daily as a reminder:
“Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow know what you truly want to become”
– Steve Jobs.
