Tell us a little bit about your background and how you ended up writing a book?

I come from a family of entrepreneurs, and at 18 I decided I wanted to teach dance lessons. I had no space to do it-except in my parent’s backyard! Initially, I viewed this as a hobby, but my family saw that I absolutely could turn it into a business. That backyard passion turned into a full-blown business with 2 brick and mortar dance studios.

What do you hope your readers take away from this book?

I want people to know there is a way to live in business and in your personal life, without being a workhorse. For years I was exhausted running a family and a business. It was important for me to share tips to help people find systems to put into place to cut through the feeling of overwhelm. There is a better way.

What are the top three tools you are currently using to write, publish, and promote your books?

The book sells everyday using funnels, our podcast, and FB lives sharing snippets or stories from the book. The combination has been very effective for us for book sales.

What were the top mistakes you made writing or publishing your book?

I would say the biggest mistake honestly was waiting too long to write the book. I had the experience, the tools, and the content. But when I did decide to do it-I kept my goal of completing it always in sight-even finishing it up as we were hit with the pandemic.

When will you consider your book a success?

I know the book is a success the moment someone emails or DMs me to say it changed their life. It actually has already happened! I have received lots of amazing feedback.

What advice do you have for new authors who want to write and self-publish their first book?

My best piece of advice is start brain dumping a little each day. Understand that you don’t have to write 10 pages every day, but just start thinking about what you want to say. The sooner you take action on writing the closer you will be to getting it published.

What is the one thing you wish you knew before publishing your first book?

I wish I knew that the process can take as long as you want. It can take a year if you choose. I have also published a book in a year. It is important to know the process will take what you put into it.

Share some of the marketing techniques that have worked for you when promoting your book?

We did a free book giveaway and made money on the back end. They find us and see what we provide, and they become customers.

Can you recommend a book, a podcast, and a course for entrepreneurs and authors?

One of the best books I have read is The ONE Thing. The content is relative to everyone. I was recently interviewed on the podcast, Authors Who Lead, and Azul, the host, is really great at asking questions which provides so much value for listeners. The reality is there are millions of amazing courses to choose from, but you have to decide which one is best for your investment.

If you only had $1000 dollars to promote a new book, knowing everything you know now, how would you spend it?

I would spend it on FB ads. Then I would use networking, podcasts interviews, and IG lives. I would use my network to get the word out and use that money to get new traffic that likely does not know who I am.

What is your favorite quote?

Never be the smartest person in the room.

Who should we interview next and why?

One of my guests on my show was Geoff Woods of The ONE Thing, He shares a message that everyone needs to hear especially as it relates to goals.
