What is Jamie R. Wright, LLC all about?
The vision of Jamie R. Wright, LLC is to become the world’s leader in assisting individuals overcome by transforming their shame into self-love and empowerment that leads to an even more happy and successful life.
Our mission is to create an empowered community to overcome shame and transform trauma into hope, healing, and happiness that leads to self-love.
Tell us a little bit about your background and how you started your company?
I established Jamie R. Wright, LLC in August 2020. I know it may seem a bit corny to ‘incorporate’ my own name, but for me, it has been the beginning of finally finding myself. It has been the beginning of “accepting” that despite enduring sexual, physical, and emotional abuse as a child and finding myself a victim of domestic violence as a woman, becoming a mother at 14 years old, that I matter and ‘life’ will happen but it’s up to me to choose how I respond. So, I created my LLC and am now a speaker, advocate, author, activist, and coach!
I found myself the victim of domestic violence during the middle of the pandemic in April. I had to escape my abuser and went to a local women’s shelter in the Houston, Texas area. While at the shelter, I ate what they served each day (even when I didn’t want to), used the toiletries they provided in order to save as much money as I could. I also received hours of therapy from their amazing psychotherapist.
I took the money I saved and transitioned out of the shelter into my own apartment in July 2020. I hired a business/life coach, and created my business the following month in August! I just want to give back, I want to show others that if I can do it, this one thing I know for, they can do it (whatever their ‘it’ is) too! We just have to push!
What are your plans, how do you plan to grow this company?
My plan to grow my business is to continue:
Spreading light and positivity to even more people in the world through positing positive content such as quotes and videos on social media and on my website!
Creating love and hope for even more people in the world by sharing particle tools that can be applied/implicated by others.
Raising awareness of resources that are available to both victims and abusers in an effort to eradicate domestic violence.
What was the biggest problem you encountered with your business and how did you overcome it?
My biggest problem was overcoming my fear of failure, lack of confidence and having sufficient financial resources for marketing and advertising.
What were the top mistakes you made starting your business and what did you learn from it?
The top mistake I made is waiting so long to start my business. I learned that I was living in fear, fear of failure, fear of being judge, just a lot of fear. My fear(s) paralyzed me from moving forward with the things I really wanted in my life, and was to inspire and encourage others. What I’ve recognizing now is that I’d whether fail trying then to not try at all in the one life, as Jamie R. Wright, I have to live. So, I PUSH, and allow myself to stumble and fail forward!
How do you separate yourself from your competitors?
I separate myself from my competitors by sharing myself and my story in an authentic and powerful way that only I can; cause it’s my story, the good, the bad, and the ugly, it’s mine. Through my authenticity, I touch, move, and inspire others to accept that what’s so, turn into power, and find their strength and purpose, trauma and all!
What is one thing that you do daily to grow as an entrepreneur?
I listen and or watch at least 10 minutes of positivity from either Napoleon Hill, Less Brown, Jim Rohn, and my absolute favorite Oprah Winfrey each day!
What are three books or courses you recommend for new entrepreneurs?
- Year of Yes – Shonda Rhimes
- Rich Dad, Poor Dad – Robert Kiyosaki
- Becoming – Michelle Obama.
What is the one thing you wish you knew before starting your business?
The one thing I wish I knew before starting my business is the importance of branding, marketing and advertising using social media.
What has been your most effective marketing strategy to grow your business?
The most effective marketing strategy I’ve used is creating content (video’s, etc.) to put on social media and paying to have my content “boosted”/spread among the social media community.
If you only had $1000 dollars to start a new business, knowing everything you know now, how would you spend it?
I would most certainly would spend the $1000 on marketing and advertising cause by doing so, at least for my business, we can obtain possible clients all while spreading hope and inspiration to the world. So even if we don’t get a single ‘client’ but we lift a person(s) spirt we’ve done exactly what our vision and mission is set out to do!
What’s your best piece of advice for aspiring and new entrepreneurs?
Follow your passion and what you know/feel is your life’s purpose. By doing so, the universe will conspire with you and bring you what you need (finances, confidence, people, etc.), and often time what you want too!
What is your favorite quote?
“It’s not that I’ve always known who I would be, it was just very clear to me from an early age who I wouldn’t be”
– Oprah Winfrey
